Obama's inauguration speech

A couple of weeks ago some of the students in my English class had to make a presentation and either perform it in small groups or in front of the whole class. I chose to talk about Obama’s inauguration speech, and I thought I could write about what I found out on my blog as well.

An inauguration is a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a leader’s term of office, for example when the president of the United States officially takes the oath of office. When Obama became the new President of the United States, it was held a Presidential inauguration to mark the big event.

4^th of November 2008, Barack Obama won the Presidential election and became the first African-American President in US history. Obama’s inauguration was held January 20^th 2009, and millions of people all over the world watched him make the oath: “I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
