
An inauguration is a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a leader’s term of office, for example when the president of the United States officially takes the oath of office. When Obama became the new President of the United States, it was held a Presidential inauguration to mark the big event.
4th of November 2008, Barack Obama won the Presidential election and became the first African-American President in US history. Obama’s inauguration was held January 20th 2009, and millions of people all over the world watched him make the oath: “I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
