A new topic for my senior project

I have changed my mind about the topic i chose for my senior project, and I've decided to change it becuase I found it very difficult to start working with the topic I first decided to work with.

After the earthquake in Haiti January 12 the whole world has been involved in helping Haiti. Reportedly more than 150 000 people were killed, although the exact number is unknown and it is feared that the number is a lot higher. The situation for the survivors is very bad because of lack of water, food and a place to stay.

I think it is amazing that the whole world take immediate action when a natural disaster like this happen, but I've later learned that the Haiti people have struggled for ages of poverty and internal riots. Why does it take a natural disaster to put Haiti on the map? And why do people really give money? Is it because we genuinely care about the people in need, or perhaps it is to clear our conscience? This is what I will discuss and try to answer in my senior project.

  1. I think you made a good choice in changing your subject. This is a very important topic, how natural disaster happen, and what we can and can not do to help. It seems hopeless sometimes, it takes so long time for the help to get there and still people are without food and water even. Different organizations seem to be arguing on how to spend the money.
